Blood Bank

Blood is the most safety-critical inventory a hospital holds, and the one with the least tolerance for error — a wrong unit issued is catastrophic. EloHIMS manages the entire chain from donor to transfusion — donors, stock by group and component, cross-matching, issue and the transfusion record — all traceable and all accounted for.

From donor to transfusion — every unit accounted for.

The module maintains a donor registry with screening, and a blood inventory tracked by group and component — whole blood, packed cells, plasma, platelets — with batch and expiry control. When a unit is needed, a blood request is raised against the patient, cross-matched for compatibility, and issued or reserved, with the transfusion recorded and any wastage logged. Group-wise stock levels stay visible so shortages and expiries are caught early, units and cross-matches bill automatically, and every step is audit-logged for the traceability blood safety demands.

What you get

Safety-critical inventory, managed with zero tolerance for error

Donor registry & screeningRegister donors and record screening, building a managed donor base.
Inventory by group & componentTrack stock by blood group and by component — whole blood, PRBC, plasma, platelets.
Batch & expiry controlEvery unit carries its batch and expiry, so short-dated blood is used or cleared before it is wasted.
Blood request against a patientRaise a typed request tied to the specific patient who needs it.
Cross-match & compatibilityRecord cross-matching and compatibility checks before any unit is released.
Issue & reserve unitsIssue units to a patient or reserve them, keeping stock and allocation accurate.
Transfusion recordDocument each transfusion as part of the patient's clinical record.
Wastage & discard logRecord discarded and expired units for accountability and reporting.
Group-wise stock visibilitySee live stock by group so shortages are anticipated, not discovered.
Automatic billingUnits and cross-matches post to the patient's account.
Full audit trailEvery donor, unit, cross-match and issue is logged for safety-critical, statutory-grade traceability.
Why it matters

One unbroken chain of custody — donor, unit, cross-match, transfusion

A wrong unit issued is one of the few errors a hospital can never take back. The Blood Bank is built so that no unit moves without being screened, grouped, cross-matched and attributed — and so that every request resolves to a real, named patient. Stock is tracked by group and component with batch and expiry, so short-dated blood is surfaced before it is lost and shortages are anticipated rather than discovered at the worst moment.

Because units and cross-matches bill automatically and every step is audit-logged, the safety-critical trail and the financial trail are the same record — defensible for inspection and complete for accreditation.

Every unit
screened, grouped, cross-matched and attributed before it is released.
Group-wise
live stock, so shortages and expiries are caught before they bite.
Donor → bill
one traceable chain — clinical safety and revenue in a single record.
The outcome

Safe, fully traceable blood from donor to transfusion, with stock and expiry controlled and every unit accounted for.
