The nephrologist enrols the patient into a dialysis programme straight from the consultation, with the schedule and standing orders captured once. EloHIMS plans the next four weeks of sessions from that schedule, so the unit sees who is due on which day. Each session is recorded in clinical detail — pre- and post-dialysis weights, the dialyser used, duration, intra-treatment vitals and any complications. The programme is billed per session or as one monthly package, and when it ends the outcome is recorded: transplanted, transferred, expired or stopped.

The month ahead, planned from the schedule
A dialysis unit sees the same patient two or three times a week on the same prescription. Once the programme's schedule is set — Mon/Wed/Fri, Tue/Thu/Sat, daily Monday to Saturday, or chosen weekdays — EloHIMS plans the next four weeks of sessions, refreshed every night. The unit page shows a week calendar; the programme page shows the patient's own calendar alongside billing.
The calendar keeps itself current: recording a session marks that day done, cancelling one reopens the day, and a planned day that passes without a session turns missed — so a missed session is visible the next morning, not at month-end. Planned days are kept apart from recorded sessions, so dashboards and registers count only treatments actually given.
Per session or one bill a month — set per programme
Some patients pay as they come; others are on a monthly package. Each programme carries its own billing mode. A per-session programme is charged session by session. A monthly programme gets one "Dialysis Monthly Package" bill each month on the patient's account, and the posting is locked so the same month can never be billed twice.
The patient settles the package at the counter like any other pay-later bill, including in part. Because a monthly programme refuses single-session charges, nobody pays for the same session twice.
When a programme ends, the record says how
A dialysis programme ends in one of a few ways, and the unit needs to know which. EloHIMS records the outcome on the programme: transplanted, transferred (to a named centre), expired, or stopped. Recording a death also flags the patient as deceased. A patient can be returned to active if their programme resumes.
Once an outcome is recorded, the patient's future sessions are cleared from the calendar and no further monthly packages post — so the calendar and the account stop running on without anyone having to remember.
