The module provides a urology procedure register for the unit's procedures. When a TURP, PCNL or URS leaves a DJ stent in, "stent left in" is ticked on the procedure and the stent is entered in the register with its side and a due date. A forgotten DJ stent is a well-known cause of serious, avoidable harm. Every day EloHIMS checks for overdue stents: the urologist gets an in-app alert on the first overdue day and every week after, and the patient can be sent an SMS through the hospital's own notification rule. Removing the stent stops the alerts.

A forgotten DJ stent is avoidable, serious harm
The most dangerous gap in urological aftercare is also the most mundane: an indwelling ureteric stent that should have come out weeks ago and simply slipped off a diary or a whiteboard. Left too long, it encrusts, blocks and injures.
In EloHIMS the stent enters the register at the procedure that left it — "stent left in" is ticked on the TURP, PCNL or URS and the side recorded. The due date follows from the procedure, and from then on the stent stays in the register, tied to its patient, until its removal is recorded.
From fragile reminder to a weekly alert that won't go away
A diary entry is only as reliable as the person who remembers to check it. EloHIMS checks the register every morning. On the first day a stent is overdue, the urologist gets an in-app alert, and the alert repeats every week for as long as the stent stays in.
The same overdue event is available to the hospital's notification rules, so the patient can be sent an SMS in the hospital's own words — telling them which side, when the stent went in, when it was due and who their urologist is. When the stent comes out and the removal is recorded, both stop.
